03 DESIGN & CONTEXT

Design and Context

Obverse · Republic

The head of Marianne faces left beneath a Phrygian cap. The Republic is identified by the surrounding national legend, and the engraver’s signature reads MORLON.

Reverse · Denomination

The numeral 2 and FRANCS denomination are balanced by two cornucopias. The reverse also carries the republican motto and the dated year 1941.

Textual design notes are independently written. No Numista or third-party coin photograph is embedded.

Varieties / special issuesStandard dated coin record
This date falls under the French State era rather than the Third Republic. The date on the coin should not, by itself, be taken as a verified manufacturing date for every specimen.
Production figures reflect consulted specialist catalogue data, not a newly verified official Monnaie de Paris annual report. Essai and piéfort editions are not included as normal circulation figures.
