02 · DESIGN & ISSUE NOTES
Original Felix Schlag portrait with Monticello reverse; conventional copper-nickel circulating issue.
Design continuity: the original Jefferson obverse remained in use through 2004. The usual Monticello reverse was replaced by the 2004 Westward Journey designs for that year.
Historical mintage note: 351,694,600 is the figure in the linked Jefferson Nickel Mintage compilation. Different catalogues can include Proofs or other variants differently; this page does not present a market valuation.
