02 · DESIGN & ISSUE NOTES
Philadelphia coins carry the P mint mark beginning in 1980. The classic Monticello design continued through 2003.
Design continuity: the original Jefferson obverse remained in use through 2004. The usual Monticello reverse was replaced by the 2004 Westward Journey designs for that year.
Historical mintage note: 657,504,000 is the figure in the linked Jefferson Nickel Mintage compilation. Different catalogues can include Proofs or other variants differently; this page does not present a market valuation.
