United States Mint · Proof Sets
Official overview of proof minting and annual collector proof sets.
Open reference ↗The 1972 United States standard Proof Set consists of five coins specially struck at the San Francisco Mint: a Kennedy half dollar, Washington quarter, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel and bronze Lincoln Memorial cent. The set predates the addition of an Eisenhower dollar to the regular annual proof set in 1973. This is an independent collector archive, not an official U.S. Mint product.
Only the five legal-tender coins are counted. The 1972 bronze Lincoln cent must not be confused with later copper-plated zinc cents. Values and set quantities are historical secondary references rather than verified current selling prices or primary Mint production totals.
