United States Mint · April 18, 2002 Proof Set Release
Official original ten-coin composition, S mark, $19.95 issue price and two separate sealed holders.
Open reference ↗The 2002 U.S. Mint standard Proof Set includes the Kennedy half dollar, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel, Lincoln Memorial cent, Sacagawea Golden Dollar and the five 2002 State Quarters. All ten coins carry the San Francisco S mint mark. Two separate sealed holders present the five State Quarters and the five other denominations. This collector archive provides five requested denomination pages, with the Sacagawea Dollar documented in its own section below.
These five detailed pages cover nine physical coins, including all five State Quarters. The tenth coin, the 2002-S Sacagawea Golden Dollar, appears in the dedicated section below to preserve the existing 2000 Proof Set layout.
Sacagawea carries her infant Jean Baptiste in the obverse portrait by Glenna Goodacre. The original reverse by Thomas D. Rogers Sr. shows a soaring eagle with 17 stars. The coin is a golden-color manganese-brass-clad dollar, not a gold coin. The 2002 issue has a plain edge, not the later lettered edge.
This additional coin is documented on the set page, just as in the 2000 archive. It is the 10th physical coin but not a sixth detailed webpage.
The U.S. Mint release establishes the contents, original sale price and S mint mark; 2,319,766 is a secondary catalogue quantity, not an official total. Different commercial sources may report another set quantity. The separate quarter-only and Silver Proof Sets are not combined with this record.
