2003-S Proof uses copper-plated zinc, not the earlier 95%-copper bronze. Numista type N#43 is the corresponding type.
2,172,684 is a secondary catalogue set quantity, NOT a figure attributed to the United States Mint press release, and not an individual coin mintage. The standard clad set count excludes the separate Silver Proof Set, and must not be confused with counts of individual coins struck for multiple sets.
